Control Over Your Dreams
Many people are interested in knowing how to control dreams, and the field is certainly a fascinating one. A lot of people seem to think that if they can control dreams they have, then they will be both better able to deal with their every day life and far less stressed. To be sure, a dream in which you have the control can be a wonderful experience. It can be a great place to blow of steam, work through some issues or even just have some fun. Of course, most people never get to the point where they can control dreams down to the tiniest level, but some control is often viewed as better than none.
Learning how to control dreams involves learning how to have a lucid dream. Lucid dreams are dreams in which you know that you are dreaming. Often lucid dreams are something of a freak occurrence, though with time and effort people can learn how to induce lucid dreams. Being able to have a lucid dream on purpose (and on a regular basis) is considered a high leveled skill and it is a skill that takes a lot of time and effort to cultivate.
Some people find that they can control dreams in terms of the dream's content by focusing on what they want to dream about while they are falling asleep. This is almost akin to meditation. As you are lying in bed trying to fall asleep, make sure that all of your muscles are relaxed. Then focus on what it is you want to dream about. Examine every detail of it. If it is a situation, imagine the noise of the situation, the feel of the situation and, of course, the look of the situation. If the situation involves another person, focus on that person. Imagine a conversation with that person. Let your brain hear his or her voice. Focus all of your attention on what it is to dream about all the way up until you drop off to sleep. Chances are you will dream about it that night. Some people find that writing down what they want to dream about helps them control dreams that they are trying to have.
If you are trying to go the lucid dreaming route, it can take some time. Learning how to instigate lucid dreaming takes time and effort and it takes even more time and effort to learn how to control the circumstances of the lucid dream. Learning how to lucid dream involves keeping a dream journal, recalling dreams, doing reality checks and learning the various methods of manipulating your brain when it is trying to sleep.
If you want to control dreams, you have a long road ahead of you, but the good news is this. It is possible to learn how to control dreams. It takes time, effort and practice. But soon you will find that you know how to control dreams and when you control the dreams that you have, you will probably have an easier time in your waking life as well.
